Adventures in China

Follow Accutek’s venture into China and the new world of medical device testing.

China is poised for exponential growth in the development of orthopedic implants to serve their booming population.  With the development of medical implants comes the requirement for mechanical testing.

Several years ago, a senior professional from the Chinese government, Dr. Yao, contacted John McCloy, Accutek’s President, enquiring about Accutek’s willingness to consider opening an Accutek branch in China.  Having been turned down by other laboratories, Dr. Yao was becoming disheartened – until John jumped at the opportunity.

You see, in the testing business, the broader the scope of your services, the more you know about testing.

The more you know about testing, the more value you provide your clients.

The more value you provide your clients?  Well, that’s a win for everyone.

After several trips to China and a visit of a Chinese delegation to Fairfield, Ohio, we have the right team is in place to get our venture off the ground – a highly-qualified, diverse group of professionals.

Meeting our Chinese investment team

Last week, I had the honor of traveling to Shanghai with John and Greg McKnight, Accutek’s Director of Engineering, to meet with the investment team face-to-face.

While we were in China, we also had the pleasure of meeting with Dean Yu and Professor Li from Shanghai University’s School of Mechatronics Engineering and Automation.  Accutek looks forward to developing a partnership combining academia and industry.

Overall, it was a fruitful trip.  We enjoyed great food, culture and discussions.  And we very much look forward to returning.
