Accutek Testing Laboratory has expanded our in-house wear testing capabilities for orthopedic implants. In addition to our MTS Bionix Spine Wear simulator, Accutek has developed a line of wear testing machines for knee and hip devices.
Accutek now offers wear testing on a wide array of orthopedic implants including hip implants, knee implants, and spinal implants.
Accutek’s services include testing to the following relevant applicable standards:
•ASTM F2423 – Standard Guide for Functional, Kinematic, and Wear Assessment of Total Disc Prostheses
•ISO 18192 – Wear of Total Intervertebral Spinal Disc Prostheses
•ISO 14242 – Wear of Total Hip-Joint Prostheses
•ISO 14243 – Wear of Total Knee-Joint Prostheses
Our new hip and knee simulators feature six stations, plus a load soak control. All controls and test parameters are designed to meet ISO/ASTM requirements.
Accutek has also added a Jeol 5900LV SEM with Oxford EDS to perform on-site particle characterization required for these wear testing projects. With our in-house machine shop’s CNC technology and our 3D modeling capability, we can quickly design and fabricate custom fixtures to ensure optimum alignment and fit. Gravimetric analysis is performed on our state of the art Sartorius mass comparator. All of this enhances Accutek’s ability to provide a comprehensive wear testing solution, customized service and minimized lead time associated with these complicated projects.
In addition to performing wear testing to standard specifications, Accutek also has the capabilities to develop custom wear testing programs for your unique design. We will work with your organization to create protocols tailored to your implant and wear testing goals, and build customized fixtures, as required, for testing of your product.
